The project is currently being implemented by the NEDA and assisted by UNDP. It is designed to enhance the benefits derived from external assistance for the
country's development by strengthening the institutional capability of the Government to
take over the increased responsibility for implementing UNDP-assisted programmes and to
provide assistance to Government agencies and other institutions in the progressive
expansion of the national execution modality.
To ensure that
institutional concerns intrinsic to national execution are properly addressed, the
strategy is to set up mechanisms that will allow timely response and support in all
aspects of project execution. Core to this strategy is the National
Program Coordination Unit (NPCU) within the Public Investment Staff of NEDA.
