National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director-General Romulo L. Neri (center) shares a personal anecdote that made NEDA Development Information Staff director Victoria V. Quimbo (left) and National Planning and Policy Staff (NPPS) director Dennis M. Arroyo (right) laugh during the press conference on the economy held recently at the NEDA Boardroom, Pasig City. The Socioeconomic Planning Secretary said the economy stands on solid fundamentals despite internal and external shocks, buoyed by the recovery of agriculture, strong exports, and the influx of business process outsourcing (BPO), among others. These positive factors, he said, made the country’s economy grow by 5.5 percent in the first quarter, at par with the growth of its neighboring countries. |
