A TOAST TO PEOPLE EMPOWERMENT

18 April 2005

Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director General ROMULO L. NERI (second from left) and representatives from the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) raise their glasses as a sign of commitment to pursuing development goals, after the signing ceremony for the 2005-2009 Country Programme Action Plans (CPAPs), Manila Peninsula Hotel, Makati City. Designed to address issues and concerns of the country’s poor and most vulnerable, the CPAPs build on the Country Programme Documents of the Philippines approved by the Executive Boards of UNDP/UNFPA and UNICEF, and the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) outcomes identified jointly by the Government of the Philippines (GOP), and the UN agencies. Also in photo are (from left): Dr. NICOLAS K. ALIPUI, Philippine Country Office Representative, UNICEF; Ms. DEBORAH LANDEY, Resident Representative, UNDP; and Dr. ZAHIDUL A. HUQUE, Country Representative, UNFPA.
