Planning Secretary and NEDA Director General AUGUSTO B. SANTOS at
the Press Conference of the Economic Team recently held at the Development
Bank of the Philippines Penthouse in Makati City. Santos reiterated
the government’s commitment to build on the successes and
implement new initiatives that include raising the competitiveness
of key sectors such as agribusiness, small and medium enterprises,
mining, tourism and ICT (information and communications technology),
all of which are laid out in the 2004-2010 Medium-Term Philippine
Development Plan. He also said that in the first quarter of 2005,
the Philippines recorded a remarkable 4.6 percent growth—higher
than that of other oil importing ASEAN countries. In the photo with
