Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Romulo L. Neri presents to the members of the Federation of Free Workers the government's economic thrusts based on the President's 10-point anti-poverty agenda.

To create 10 million jobs, Neri said that the government will focus on five strategic measures, namely: (1) making food plentiful at reasonable prices to make labor cost globally competitive; (2) reducing cost of electricity to make cost of running our machines and our manufacturing processes regionally competitive; (3) modernizing physical infrastructure and logistics system at least cost to ensure efficient movement of goods and people; (4) mobilizing and disseminate knowledge to upgrade technologies and increase people's productivity; and (5) reducing red tape in all government agencies to reduce transaction costs.

Occasion was the roundtable discussion of the Brotherhood of Asian Trade Unions-World Confederation of Labor held recently at the Sulu Hotel in Quezon City.
