Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director-General Romulo L. Neri (inset) highlighted the need for energy self-sufficiency through the use of renewable and environment-friendly energy sources in his presentation during the Consultative Meeting on the Implementation of Biofuels Research held recently at the Tarlac College of Agriculture, Camiling, Tarlac. The NEDA chief stressed that the development of the biofuels industry, like jatropha, is important because it will help the country save dollars from oil importation and arrest dependence on imported oil from other countries.
