National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) deputy director-general Nestor R. Mijares (inset) urges participants of the Luzon Urban Beltway (LUB) Anti-Poverty Summit to create new knowledge through policies, programs and projects to help alleviate poverty and improve the people's quality of life. The summit was held at ClarkMuseum, Pampanga and drew 350 participants from national government agencies, local government units, non-governmental organizations and representatives from various sectors. He added that fiscal reforms instituted by government have helped lower interest rates and strengthen the peso generating more revenues and interest savings, which can be used for social services and other programs to help alleviate poverty in the country.
