National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) assistant director-general Rolando G. Tungpalan (left) and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) director-general for Asia Pauline Kehoe (right) exchanges copies of the aide memoriam to the 9th Annual Bilateral Consultations between the two countries in a signing ceremony held recently at the NEDA Boardroom, Pasig City. Canadian assistance for governance centers on four key areas, namely, decentralization, human rights, rule of law and public sector performance and accountability. Aid for private sector development, on the other hand, focuses on promoting entrepreneurship, creating an enabling environment to increase access to markets and reduce the cost and complexity of doing business, as well as helping developing countries better integrate into the global economy.
